We recognise the role we play in the local community, and the importance of supporting local charities, such as Keech Hospice Care in Bedfordshire, St John’s Hospice at Moggerhanger, the MS Therapy Centre in Bedfordshire, the Alzheimer’s Society of Bedford, the Bedford Daycare Hospice, the Headway Charity and the Bedford Hospital Challenge Cancer appeal.
For the last few years we have supported the ‘Wear it Pink’ day in aid of breast cancer support and ‘Wear it Red’ day in support of the British Heart Foundation. At Christmas we choose to make a donation to charity rather than send Christmas Cards. We also participate in the ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ in aid of Save the Children.
Throughout the year we take part in a number of charity fundraising events. Some of our staff and partners hiked over 20 miles around Glyders Loop in Wales as part of the LawNet Challenge and raised £2,730 in aid of the Bedford Hospital Charity. A few members of staff participated in the Starlight Walk and raised £270 in aid of St John’s Hospice, Moggerhanger. We also hosted a Charity Golf Day at Pavenham Golf course for the benefit of Headway Bedford, raising a total of £2,600.
We understand our collective responsibility towards the environment, and we aim to minimise our carbon emissions. All of our non-confidential waste is recycled where possible, and we use recycled paper whenever appropriate. Electronic versions of forms are used whenever possible to minimise paper consumption.
